Wrath of the Lich King is AWESOME

Once again, I've been lacking in updates for this site.  And I apologize.  I've been sidetracked with the new Wrath of the Lich King expansion that came out on Thursday.  I managed to get ahold of a collectors edition of the game (thank you Kyle!), making it so that I now have 3 out of 3 of the WoW Collector Editions.

I didn't get much of a chance to tryout the game when it came out last Thursday (11/13/08) as I went bowling that night.  Friday night was even worse as my realm Kil'Jaeden is a high population server and had like a 30+ minute wait (800+ queue).  Saturday and Sunday were the days that I got to play, and I must say that the leveling process is much easier now then it was when leveling from 60-70.

Blizzard really went all out with the quests.  There are so many quests jammed-packed within the zones, that I really didn't even know where to begin.  Since there are so many things to do, I wouldn't know where to start and I probably would have overwhelmed myself.  Thank god for QuestHelper & TomTom as they have been a lifesaver.

I think had I stayed Frost, I probably wouldn't be as far as I am in the leveling process.  I've found that Clearcasting procs more then enough saving me plenty of mana.  Frost while it's nice having more utilities at your disposal just doesn't provide the type of mobility (for me) being able move around and cast.  You're constantly stuck in place as you're casting Frostbolt, while some may argue that Arcane Missiles is the same, the difference between the two is that there's a constant flow of damage coming from each volley of missiles; where as with Frostbolt you have that 2.5 second wait before the hit.  Arcane also has Slow which is advantageous as it slows down your opponents casting time as well as ranged attack speed.  With the mobs slowed and me running around casting Arcane Barrage, it means that I never get hit or take damage.

Mages have an advantage in this new expansion as the new city is Dalaran, a city run by mages.  And as a mage, you already have a friendly status with the city, giving them a slight head start when it comes to reputation gain.

Another nice addition is the change in focus for casters.  Haste is becoming the popular stat enabling casters to pull their spells off quicker, as well as a reduction in the global cooldown (GCD).  This is nice for casters as most spells require the user to be immobile while casting, anything to help reduce the casting time is always welcome to me.

Seeing as my primary focus at this time is leveling my mage to 80, I probably won't be posting as often as I'd like to, I give it at least another 10 days before I hit 80.

So until then....

Ciao!
