My thoughts regarding the current state of Assassin's Creed

I’m of the assumption that what Alex Hutchinson said either speculation, or its BS.  Having played AC1 - AC3 (including Brotherhood & Revelations) there was alot behind Desmond’s story.  At the end of AC1 they revealed the ‘bleeding effect’ which became a huge deal during the present day story of the series.  I mean the whole reason why they chose Ezio in AC2 was for Desmond to learn the ways of becoming an assassin.

All the articles I’ve read so far about AC4 makes no sense to me, why does it need to jump further back in the past to focus on Edward Kenway (Haytham’s father?) Every major Assassin’s Creed game (in order from 1, 2, Brotherhood, Revelations & 3) had an ascending order of past events they focused on.  I was of the impression that the series would eventually lead to a modern day Assassin’s creed where they’d utilize Desmond as the present day assassin, dealing with Abstergo, and/or the aftermath of Juno.  The present day story of AC3 still has a lot of unanswered questions that need answered; especially with Juno being released. I mean what happens in the present day world?  What becomes of Desmond’s father & family? What happens to Sean Hastings, & Rebecca Crane?

To me it doesn’t make sense for Ubisoft to write a continuing story with Desmond for 4 games only to them to suddenly decide the need for him to sacrifice his life to save the world and bear the wrath of Juno.  If that really was their intent, then Ubisoft literally just took a crap on the Assassin’s Creed franchise, because Desmond’s story is what kept those games together.
